Entity FX, an award-winning film, television and commercial visual effects company in Santa Monica, California, and Vancouver, British Columbia, announced today that it is completing many of the visual effects for the upcoming feature The Spirit from producers Odd Lot Ent. and Lionsgate.
Based on Will Eisner’s comic and representing Frank Miller’s directorial debut, THE SPIRIT was recently teed up for release this December.
Entity FX was tapped by The Orphanage and Visual Effects Supervisor Stu Maschwitz to contribute 170 visual effects shots to the film. These include extensive digital backgrounds and CG elements, which will help to bring Miller’s vision of the Eisner classic to life on the big screen.
THE SPIRIT follows police rookie Denny Colt as he returns from the dead to clean up Central City’s mean streets. As with Frank Miller’s earlier projects 300 and SIN CITY, THE SPIRIT is leveraging innovative greenscreen shooting techniques with dramatic effects and synthetic environments to achieve striking imagery.
THE SPIRIT will open in the U.S. on December 25, 2008 from Lionsgate.
