He may have started off as a slightly generic Dick Tracy-ish character with a hint of Batman, but he soon became a lot more than that. Eisner’s beautiful worldless sequences, surreal ‘splash’ pages and sheer willingness to experiment have influenced everyone from Alan Moore to Frank Miller, so it should be no surprise that the latter is bringing it to the big screen.”
