Richard Graham’s first foray into comic books didn’t includeSpider-Man, the Fantastic Four or Archie but a 1979 Army trainingpamphlet for an off-road military vehicle: “Operation andPreventative Maintenance: the M561/M792 Gama Goat.”
No capes, superheroes or criminal masterminds here. Instead, itfeatured a blonde bombshell going through key points on tirepressure, cooling system filters and payload limits. The drysubject matter (scantily clad teacher aside) contrasts oddly withthe gorgeous illustrations courtesy of Will Eisner, one of the mostbeloved comic book artists of all time.
