CLEVELAND, Ohio — Back in the early ’70s, writer/editor Michel Choquette traveled across two continents, hiring artists and writers to put together a chronicle of the 1960s.

But when it was done, he was unable to find a publisher, despite the fate that the book included art by Will Eisner, Art Spiegelman, Harvey Kurtzman, Jack Kirby, Sergio Aragon s, C. C. Beck, Vaughn Bod , Moebius, Gahan Wilson, Barry Windsor-Smith and Wally Wood. The writers were equally impressive: William S. Burroughs, Harlan Ellison, Michael O’Donoghue, Tom Wolfe, Federico Fellini and musicians Pete Townshend and Frank Zappa.

How could it miss?

Now readers finally will get to read the anthology: “The Someday Funnies” is available from Abrams ComicArts for $55 and contains 129 previously unpublished strips by 169 writers and artists from 15 countries.
